Naval Academy Annual Fund

Gifts to the annual fund are the most flexible and immediate way to support the Naval Academy, making Annual Fund support one of this campaign’s greatest priorities.

The Annual Fund’s most powerful impact stems from the full resources it provides the Naval Academy Foundation, whose initiatives in turn generate an average of $25 million per year—a nearly 500% return on investment—in commitments supporting priorities across the Naval Academy curriculum. Examples include more than 25 privately supported academic, leadership and ethics professors; the Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership; the Center for Academic Excellence; the Brigade Sports Complex; the comprehensive renovations of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and the Naval Academy Museum; the Memorial Hall Valor and Operational Loss displays; a significant portion of varsity, club and intramural sports programs; and many other gift-supported areas that provide the margin of excellence at the Academy.

Additionally, via direct unrestricted support to the Naval Academy, Annual Fund gifts fund a wide array of initiatives and emerging program needs of the Academy, providing the Superintendent the ability to “jump-start” programs in advance of government funding. Examples of recent projects and programs made possible in part by the Annual Fund include diversity initiatives in Admissions, Naval Academy STEM and Summer Seminar Programs, program support at the Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS), program support for the International Programs Office, and supplemental funding for Distinguished Military Professors.

Finally, the Annual Fund supports the mission of the Naval Academy Alumni Association, providing important member services and benefits such as Shipmate magazine; alumni chapter, parent club and class reunion support; and the Alumni Association and Foundation website at It also provides resources for the First Gift program, First Class Battalion Receptions at Alumni House/Ogle Hall and I-Day support—all functions that foster early development of a culture of philanthropy and engagement among our newest alumni.
